Zahbia is a co-author on the recent Insight publication in Conciliation Resources' Accord series, entitled ‘Local engagement with armed groups: in the midst of violence.’ This publication explores the experiences of communities from Colombia, Syria, Uganda and Northern Ireland who have sought to engage with armed groups and influence their behaviour.
Zahbia speaks about the approaches that communities can, and have used to influence armed groups, the huge risks that they face and their important contributions to peace. These experiences demonstrate the unique approach of local peacebuilding efforts, and the impact of active community engagement in the broader transformation of conflict.
