Peace Direct has been chosen, along with ActionAid UK & Computer Aid, to be part of the Independent's Christmas Appeal. The Independent is one of the UK's largest daily newspapers and over the coming weeks you will be able to read stories from some of the organisations on this site.

Today was the story of Healing Through Remembering, a peacebuilding organisation base in Northern Ireland, and their success in reaching across divided communities to heal the scars left by decades of violence - allowing people to move together toward a peaceful future.

Last Monday, the paper focused on Henri Bura Ladyi of Centre Résolution Conflits in DR Congo. Henri - "Africa's Schindler" - has saved the lives of thousands of people, despite continuous threats against his life.

Over the coming weeks there will be many more stories of amazing work being done by local peacebuilders around the world.
