Handhala for Humanity was founded in 2014 by a group of young people seeking to promote human rights and citizenship with a special focus on women’s rights and children’s rights.The organisation’s main values are related to raising awareness about these issues.

Handhala For Humanity has organised many actions such as: the "You have said it" campaign against sexual harassment on public transportation. This action was a straightforward campaign meant to shock people and end harassment. Another example was the "pink smile" project to show women that have cancer that they can fight it; they are beautiful with or without hair, with or without breasts. The pink smile activity was designed to end stereotypes about people with cancer and to encourage women to embody their altered physique and feel more comfortable in their skin.

Handhala for Humanity have also just begun a new project that is aimed to children in primary schools. The project called ‘Sgharna’ (English: "Our kids") works to introduce to children their civic rights and teach them how to grow into functional and responsible adults. The project consists in creating clubs for children in primary schools to instil in them the values human rights, equality and citizenship.

The organisations goals are to:

• Involve young people in the dynamics of civil society work
• Instill a culture of citizenship, democracy and the need for human rights
• Engage people and change their awareness of things in their society and everyday living so that they embrace their citizenship and become active changers themselves. This, the organisation hopes, will lead to societal harmony and peace between the individuals in the same neighbourhood, city, and country.
