Jeunes Agents de Développement (Young Development Agents, JAD) is a non-profit panafrican and humanitarian youth organisation working to meet the challenges of development in Africa and worldwide through supporting the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by youth and for youth. Created December 2013 in Nairobi, JAD is a team of young people working in all areas of development including:
- Education;
- Promotion of peace
- Sexual and reproductive health and the fight against HIV/AIDS
- Maternal and child health
- The promotion and protection of children's rights
- Protection of the environment
- Empowerment and youth employment
- The promotion of gender and education for girls
- Promotion of volunteering and volunteerism among young people
- Information and communication technology
Since its creation, JAD has carried out many activities in the above areas, most of which are based on the promotion of a peace culture and the search for social cohesion in the Central African Republic. Examples of work is has carried out include:
The Global Campaign for Peace in One Minute CAR: Started in June 2014, this campaign was initiated to facilitate the participation and contribution of youth and children in the actions of conflict resolution and the promotion of a peace culture in CAR. The programme aims to train young ambassadors and actors of peace, who will carry messages of peace in their communities. Through this campaign, JAD has collected more than 571 messages (videos and pictures) of young people, across the world, calling for a definitive return of peace in CAR.
Samedi d’Echange de Bangui (Bangui Saturday Exhange) initiated by JAD in November 2014, aims to create a framework for exchange, sharing and permanent dialogue between young Central Africans, but also for the promotion of a culture of peace, social cohesion and conflict prevention in CAR. Through this initiative and in four other weekend editions, JAD was able to reach 483 young people, including 157 girls from all parts of CAR. Four projects promoting a culture of peace, youth entrepreneurship and youth participation, from the concluding Saturday of each exchange, are under development.
JAD works closely with the National Youth Council, UNICEF / CAR, African Youth Movement, FAO and the United Nations Voluntary youth program in CAR.
