Youth Nexus (YL) is a youth voluntary organisation based in Khulna. The goal of the organisation is to promote sustainable development among young people in Bangladesh. To achieve this goal, YL is dedicated to promoting the voice of young people regarding current global issues such as leadership, human rights and development, environment, DDR, social justice, and political violence. YL works for the development of organisational and leadership skills, intellectual abilities and research orientation of young people.
Activities of the organisation include:
- Arranging training programs to enhance the leadership skills of the members of the organisation.
- Commemorating major national and international issues.
- Organising seminars and workshops and other social activities on issues including political violence, human rights, international volunteer days and youth development.
- Raising awareness in the media and mobilising youth and the students regarding the issues.
- Carrying out research based activities.
- Organising different youth related events and programs.
- Working in collaboration with national organisations and corporate bodies.

16 days of activism
2017
From 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to 10 December, Human Rights Day, the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign is a time to galvanize action to end violence against women and girls around the world. The international campaign originated from the first Women's Global Leadership Institute coordinated by the Center for Women's Global Leadership in 1991.
Orange the World 2017: Leave no one behind
This year, the UNiTE Campaign will mark the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence under the overarching theme, “Leave No One Behind: End Violence against Women and Girls”— reflecting the core principle of the transformative 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
“Leave No One Behind: End Violence against Women and Girls” reinforces the UNiTE Campaign’s commitment to a world free from violence for all women and girls around the world, while reaching the most underserved and marginalized, including refugees, migrants, minorities, indigenous peoples, and populations affected by conflict and natural disasters, amongst others, first.
As in previous years, the colour orange will be a key theme unifying all activities, and buildings and landmarks will be lit and decorated in orange to bring global attention to the issue of violence against women and girls.
The theme of the 2017 Campaign is “Together We Can End GBV in Education!” This year’s theme builds on the momentum and achievements during the 2016 campaign, when over 700 organizations in 92 countries campaigned around the theme of “From Peace in the Home to Peace in the World: Make Education Safe for All!” Our goal for 2017 is to continue to build awareness of and advocate for an end to all forms of gender-based violence in education once and for all.
This action kit contains information about GBV in education as well as suggested actions to take during the 2017 16 Days Campaign. The action kit will help you understand the issues and challenges faced in addressing and ending GBV in education and how together we can make a difference.
