We are excited to announce the release of the inaugural issue of Building Peace: A Forum for Peace and Security in the 21st Century! People outside of the peacebuilding community do not realize that every day women, men, and children work to prevent violence and consolidate peace in their local communities and capitals through dialogue, reconciliation, development efforts, human rights initiatives, and governance processes. The Alliance for Peacebuilding understands that in order to secure more support for the peacebuilding field we need to communicate more effectively the benefits and impact of peacebuilding work. So, for the past year we have been working to fill that communications gap.
With input from peacebuilding experts around the world, we have developed a new, free, semi-annual online publication that shares stories of people, communities, and organizations that are transforming the face of peace and security. Created and written for people who are not yet deeply familiar with peacebuilding, Building Peace offers a window into how those in the peacebuilding field foster and support resilient, peaceful, and inclusive societies around the world.
We invite you to join us remotely at the official launch of Building Peace for a panel with the Honorable Ambassador of Mali to the U.S. Al Maamoun Baba Lamine Keita (invited) and three of the authors from the first issue on Tuesday, April 16th at 2:45pm EDT at the U.S. Institute of Peace . The panel on “Peacebuilding Perspectives on Mali” will demonstrate the insights and frameworks that peacebuilders contribute to important global challenges, such as the current complex conflict in Mali. The following Building Peace authors from around the world will discuss their areas of expertise and articles – and how their perspectives may be applied to Mali:
