Pakistan Calling is an innovative online media giving a platform to young film makers and citizen journalists in Pakistan. The project will use film to showcase the work of civil society in Pakistan - building awareness and support for organisations and activists tackling the countries many social problems.
The project is hosted by the Royal Society of the Arts, in partnership with The Samosa - a media platform for the promotion of human rights, with a special interest in Britain, South Asia and the Pakistani diaspora - with support from London Metropolitan University, The University of Karachi, Beacon House University Lahore, and UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
It is hoped that by profiling the work of civil society, showing the many cultures and communities of Pakistan, and supporting young film makers, the films audiences will be inspired to take part in, or support, civic activity. The project also aims to generate discussion about how the British Pakistani community, and wider economic and social networks, can support civil society in Pakistan.
The project is currently inviting submissions. More information can be found on the Pakistan Calling website.
