Peace talks: volunteer translators wanted

We need help! At Peace Direct, our vision is of a just world free from violent conflict. And through projects like Insight on Conflict, we are able to help shine a light on local peacebuilding organisations around the world, all working to achieve the same thing.

But there are thousands of them and fewer than 15 of us, so talking to them all can become difficult – especially when we don’t speak the same language. So we are looking for volunteer translators to help us in our work.

If you are fluent in English and French or Spanish, and would like to contribute to our mission, we’d like to hear from you. If you’re suitably qualified, we will add you to our pool of volunteer translators.

The way it works is the following: when we have something that needs translating, we email all the translators in our pool with details of the translation available - length, topic and deadline. If they're available, they reply and let us know - there's never any obligation to respond. Documents for translation can include research reports, project proposal applications, and blog articles. We also have several projects for which we need continuous support, translating updates from Peace Direct partner organisations. French to English assistance would be particularly welcomed for this area, as would anyone able to volunteer on a semi-regular basis.

What we ask for depends on the task, but we are flexible. We are grateful for all the help we receive, and you would be very welcome to add your contribution to your CV or LinkedIn profile. We can also list you on our thanks page here.
