Founded in 2001, the Christian Legal Society of Zimbabwe (CLZ) is a grassroots association, ministry and network of Christian legal professionals, who are committed to providing legal assistance to vulnerable populations.

Its areas of focus are legal assistance and litigation, conflict transformation and gender justice, human rights monitoring, child protection, and budget monitoring.

CLZ’s mission is to practise justice with compassion, and promote citizens’ access to justice, as well as encourage participation by all people in the country’s legislative processes. Its vision is a society in which all people’s human and legal rights are safeguarded, and communities uphold the principles of justice, integrity and good governance.

One of the organisation’s programmes is the ‘Act Justly Initiative’, which seeks to promote non-violence and enhance popular participation of citizens in transitional justice and legislative processes.
