CODHES (Consultoría para los Derechos Humanos y el Desplazamiento) is a non-profit organisation established in 1992 by academics in human rights and international humanitarian law who sought peaceful alternatives for Colombia, with an emphasis on the individuals and communities directly affected by the armed conflict.
Its projects are aimed at finding a democratic solution to the armed conflict and overcoming the humanitarian crisis through research, information systems and social solutions. The objective of the research is to generate public debate, raise awareness and ultimately contribute to the formulation of an institutional resolution to conflict.
Whilst CODHES does not officially represent the displaced population, it believes in the duty of civil society and the international community to build solutions and protect victims. It works with at-risk populations in areas that include the prevention of forced displacement, the promotion of humanitarian responses, and the socio-economic and psychosocial recovery of the population.
