Friends Peace House works to promote peace, unity and reconciliation in Rwanda, and to contribute to the development of society and the country. Friends Peace House was launched in December 2000, with the support of the Evangelical Friends Church of Rwanda, to continue and build upon the peace work that was undertaken as a response to the 1994 genocide.
Friends Peace House was created to be a peace centre, a central location where peace-building activities could be coordinated and to continue the work of rehabilitation and stabilisation of various communities.
The organisation trains people in peace education and poverty alleviation. Over 30,000 people have so far been trained. Furthermore, as a result of the training 62 community groups have been formed which continue to develop the skills and ideas learned in the training.
