GOHER- a local development & peacebuilding organization - is promoting peace since 2001 in the remote and underdeveloped area of Southern Punjab in Pakistan. GOHER is promoting peace by empowering youth, women and minorities through capacity building, awareness raising, advocacy, skill development, service-delivery and leadership- building.
GOHER possesses a rich experience and expertise of social mobilization, training, project management, capacity building, research, monitoring & evaluation at grass root level. GOHER has so far successfully implemented a number of peacebuilding projects in south Punjab like Female Youth Empowerment Center, Civil Servants Academy, Women Entrepreneurs Consultancy & Support (WECS), Peace Leadership Program (PLP) Southern Punjab Youth Advocacy Forum, Madrassah Peace Project, Peace Poetry Contest, Capacity Building of Young Peace builders of Bahawalpur, Engaging Local CBOs for Peacebuilding in Bahawalpur.
GOHER’s partners include organization like DAI, USAID OTI, Creative Associates, World Bank, UNDP, ECP, DGDC (Belgian Government)), IPYG (International Peace Youth Groups), etc. GOHER has a network of young peace leaders and volunteers all across southern Punjab. GOHER was selected as participant in 2009 for World Bank’s Development Marketplace (SAR DM). GOHER is a member of Pakistan Peace Exchange and is working collaboratively with other organizations to promote mission of peacebuilding in Pakistan. GOHER has also established a youth resource center in Bahawalpur to combat violent extremism through empowerment of local youth of Bahawalpur.
