The Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) is a think-tank based in Islamabad, conducting research with an aim to provide in-depth understanding and analysis of regional and global strategic issues. The institute organises events to encourage discussions on issues of peace and security.
ISSI has a regional focus on peace in South Asia and has published a number of reports. In 2006, ISSI published a report titled 'Pakistan-India Dialogue: Quest for Peace' and the next year a report on 'Jammu and Kashmir Dispute: Models for Resolution'. In May 2005, ISSI organised a seminar in collaboration with the UN Information Centre to commemorate the International Day of UN Peacekeepers in Islamabad. At the seminar among the guests were Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary, the Swedish Ambassador and Major General Imtiaz Qureshi.
More recent publications have examined the impact of Track II diplomacy on the Pakistan-India peace process, and militant movements in South Asia.
