Justice, Development and Peace/Caritas Advocates (JDPCA) is a structural response to the Second Vatican Council (1962-5) appealing for the church's involvement in the building of a just and peaceful world. The purpose of this organisation is to coordinate the activities geared toward a positive change in the human condition, such as poverty, religious bigotry, election malpractices, diseases and injustice.
For more than 15 years JDPCA has worked to advance peace with justice. Peacebuilding is a top strategic priority for JDPCA and its many partners around Kano and Jigawa states. Their objectives include greater equity for poor and marginalised people, improved social cohesion, and greater church engagement and effectiveness in peacebuilding.
Major achievements:
- Peacebuilding and community development in Kano and Jigawa states.
- Established the Emergency Preparedness Response Team/ Peacebuilding (EPRT/PB).
- Democracy and election monitoring programmes in Kano and Jigawa states.
- Women empowerment and development initiatives.
