Save Our Schools Network is a network of child-focused NGOs, church-based groups and other stakeholders advocating for children's right to education.
Children's rights violations are rife in the Philippines, including the military occupation of schools and interruption of education.
International laws covering conflict situations expressly prohibit the use of public infrastructures such as schools, hospitals, and rural health units for military purposes such as command posts and supply depots. However, over recent years there has been an increase in reports of schools being militarised, and being used as barracks and detachments. This recurring violation of child rights gave birth to the Save Our Schools network.
Save Our Schools is a network of child rights advocates, organisations and various stakeholders working together to shed light on and take action against the ongoing violation of children's right to education, particularly those in the context of militarisation and attacks on schools.
