The Central Kentucky Council for Peace and Justice (CKCPJ) is a coalition of peacemaking groups and individuals which addresses the whole fabric of peace and justice issues. Some choose to focus on peace within the individual, family and community while others emphasise issues of international peace. Despite their different talents and priorities, they all share a belief that peace and justice can be best advanced by sharing ideas and working together.
Primary objectives:
- Provide members of the community with resources and information about peace and justice issues
- Mobilise, coordinate, and support activities and actions focused on peace and justice issues
- Facilitate and encourage communication and interchange of ideas among our members and within the community
The Council supports events organised by their member organisations or any other local group whose event is consistent with their core principles. They participate by co-sponsoring within funding, contributions and publicity within the local and regional progressive community, Their goal is to build coalitions and to distribute information as widely as possible because they believe cooperation and collaboration requires sharing knowledge and increasing understanding.
They choose the specific pieces of legislation for which they lobby based on their dedication to: nonviolent solutions to conflict, equitable distribution of the world's resources, respect for human rights for all, and their desire to achieve a safe, diverse, and sustainable environment.
