South Sudanese Friends International (SSFI) believes that 'Peace is a total way of life'. This holistic understanding enables us to reach across multiple areas of need to lay the foundation for self-reliance. Another distinguishing aspect of SSFI's work is their emphasis on the long-term educational process. they want to give people the skills and resources they need to help themselves. SSFI has been supporting projects to build peace and self-reliance in South Sudan for 20 years.
SSFI is was founded in 1994 to promote peace, justice and democracy and Sudan. Their activities are funded by contributions from individuals, religious organisations, and civic groups that share their love for the Sudanese people.
Their mission is to partner with grassroots initiatives to empower the people of South Sudan through sustainable, community-driven change. They aim to support local leaders working in education, women's empowerment, health and agriculture in order to promote peace and lasting change throughout the nation.
Helping lay the foundation for a peaceful nation remains at the core of our mission. They have worked at every level of peacemaking in South Sudan, bringing people together for talks in villages, camps, and government offices. Their future plans include community workshops and dialogue, a soldier community reintegration program, and community watch program.
