The 5ta con 5ta is a youth organisation born in 2008 out of a youth hip hop initiative. The group was faced with a lack of space to develop their art and wished to end hip hop's stigmatisation and association with criminality. 5ta con 5ta believe in making hip hop a means of expression for young people to pacify their meeting places and strengthen amicable conflict resolution.

In the beginning, the organisation focused on working with young people aged between 16 and 25 years old to generate learning spaces from formative meetings and public actions to promote the defence of youth rights and the sanctity of life.

Main Activities

• Hip hop as a strategy in governmental programmes like the Colombian Agency for Reintegration and the Government Secretariat of North of Santander. This work focused on transformation of violence, and preventing recruitment into it.
• Motivate training processes and the artistic circulation in 10 municipalities of the department which has allowed the recognition of childhood and youth as subjects of rights. This has strengthened youth leadership and defined hip hop as a tool in building a culture of peace.
• Fight against discriminations to HIV-positive individuals through rap and call for their social and individual inclusion.
